Pre-Season update for Wednesday, December 03, 2025

Ah, the longest days of the year. These days right after Thanksgiving are certainly not the physically longest days of the year but to snow riders everywhere they are often the height of anticipation. We have gotten just enough snow to get ourselves excited and now it is time to wait. Wait to see that first glimmer of a bluebird day, wait for that thigh-deep powder, wait for the storm that starts the season’s fun and brings our friends back together. That storm is right around the corner but in the meantime we’re not ones to mope around about it. For, though we agree with the great Tom Petty that the waiting is the hardest part, we are certainly not ones to do it alone. We’d much rather throw a party, or in our case a whole series of them.

We are hard at work getting the mountain ready for you and obsessively checking the forecast ourselves. We can’t wait to open our doors to our friends once again but until then, come see us at Wintervention events, hit us up at Hillside Ski and Sport in SIsters, and keep up those snow dances

--

The powder may still be a little way off but we always want to remind our guests that dry, deep, loose snow can lead to death by suffocation, especially if trapped upside-down. Please make sure you understand the danger of tree wells and other terrain traps and use extreme caution or avoid tree areas completely when the snow gets deep. If you are going to venture into the trees in deep snow make sure you have a solid riding partner, keep each other in sight, and have the knowledge you need to give yourselves your best chance if something happens. Snow immersion suffocation is a serious hazard. Learn the basics of how to keep yourself safer at deepsnowsafety.org.

Hoodoo does not require an Oregon Sno-Park Permit to park in our parking lot, however, Oregon Sno-Park Permits are required to park along the access road or at nearby Ray Benson and Santiam Sno-Parks.

There is no sledding allowed anywhere on the Hoodoo property.

*Please note this page is written by a Hoodoo Groomer. While getting you the latest information is quite important, getting terrain prepped and ready for you takes precedence. On days when the grooming is challenging or it is snowing like crazy this report may come out later in the morning.

Keep checking this page for the latest updates and conditions and we can’t wait to get to see you again at Hoodoo!

Grooming Information will be updated when the mountain opens
