The Baker Lake area remains one of the most popular recreation areas in Washington for one simple reason, Baker Lake. The long lake mixes water recreation with captivating scenic beauty that is hard to stop admiring. The whole area is a treat to the senses. Whether it be the smell of the firs and pines or the majestic mountain scenery, you will want to return here many times. Although there may be small boats for rent at either the Baker Lake resort or Horseshoe campground, you are best off bringing your own floating device to help you experience it all. There are places to swim, but especially in the early season, the water is cold since it comes from glacier runoff from the nearby mountains. The roads are mostly good, but some of the campgrounds are better suited to tenting than RVs. You should look at the individual campground pages for details. There are six group campsites ranging from the small site number one at Boulder that can hold about a dozen people to the middle size easy to use Horseshoe group sites and finally to the larger, but more rustic Bayview group sites. Panorama offers the nicest sites, but there may be no drinking water there so come prepared. Horseshoe Campground is the most popular, but that means more neighbors. All the campgrounds are a pleasant vacation from reality.
